Italian contemporary pop and urban artist born in Rome, specializing in vibrant works that blend pop culture icons with street art aesthetics, featuring classic cartoons and social satire.
EGHNĀ (born Rome, 1990) is an Italian contemporary artist specializing in pop art and urban/street art. The stage name derives from the word engentar. From childhood, EGHNĀ showed a passion for art, drawing favorite cartoon characters on notebooks, walls, and school desks. She attended the International School of Comics in Rome (Academy of Visual Arts and New Media), completing courses in comics and illustration. Her style mixes popular influences with graffiti, paint drips, scribbled texts, and chaotic layers—evoking 1980s New York graffiti culture and artists like Basquiat. Her subjects include classic cartoons (Mickey Mouse, Snoopy, Hello Kitty, Popeye), Disney characters, and international icons. Works oscillate between comics and urban art, featuring fragmented representations, bold color palettes (black, white, gray, red, pink), and protest/underground elements.
"I transform pop culture icons into protest tools, questioning mass culture's place in contemporary art through vibrant street art aesthetics and social satire."
